Acupuncture for children

Children respond surprisingly well to acupuncture. In most children, treatment with Shonishin is sufficient. Shonishin is a technique from Japanese acupuncture where no needles are used, instead small instruments are used to massage. I usually get the reaction from children they like it and sometimes it tickles a little.

Shonishin children’s acupuncture

Shonishin is a part of Japanese acupuncture. It is already an ancient method that originated about 350 years ago in Japan. Since children often cannot sit still for half an hour, this is a pleasant method. During the treatment, they may also sit, or sit on mom, dad or another educator’s lap. Children are much more sensitive and react faster to stimuli, and therefore also to a treatment.

For which complaints can a Shonishin treatment be used?

  • To increase resistance. Consider the constant “ailing”. Your child is sick a lot, chronic colds, lots of coughing, recurring ear infections.
  • With skin complaints such as eczema
  • With digestive complaints such as abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation (hard stools).
  • Still wetting the bed at an older age (from 6 years on)
  • Unexplained abdominal pain
  • With emotional problems and sleep problems. Think of crying a lot (crybaby), cramps in babies, sleeping badly, waking up too early, nightmares, hypersensitivity to impressions.
  • But also as support during vaccinations.
